Sectoral Growth: Foreign Tourist Visits to Indonesia Surpass 1.39 Million in September 2025
Indonesia continues to capture international attention with its stunning tourist destinations and strategy to attract foreign visitors. According to the latest report, the country saw 1.39 million foreign tourist visits in September 2025. These impressive figures represent a growth of 9.04% compared to the same period last year. The Ministry of Tourism, led by Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, optimistically states that the overall figure for 2025 may reach 14-15 million visits, aligning with the updated Government Work Plan for the current year. It’s worth noting that ASEAN countries account for the largest share of foreign tourists (35.22%), followed by other Asian regions (27.57%). This achievement is highlighted by not only the growth in foreign tourists but also a significant increase in domestic tourism. As of January-September 2025, there were 11.43 million trips, a 10.22% increase year-over-year. Amidst this growth, sectoral impact on the economy is notable, with key areas being travel agencies, transport services, and dining, underscoring the importance of continuous tourism sector development to strengthen the country’s overall economic climate.
