Minister of Tourism: National Tourism Attraction Strengthens

Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, announced that the country’s appeal to international tourists continues to grow. This positive trend is evidenced by the growth in the tourism sector. ‘These achievements show that our marketing and promotion strategies are effective and targeted,’ stated Widiyanti at an official meeting in Jakarta. In 2025, Indonesia’s tourism sector witnessed a significant increase in international visits, recording 13.98 million visits compared to 12.66 million in 2024. Malaysia remains a major contributor, accounting for about 17% of all tourists. The minister also emphasizes the importance of domestic travelers, noting a record level of 1.09 billion trips. Speaking during a session with the DPR Commission VII, she highlighted that this growth plays a crucial role in maintaining the country’s economic sustainability through tourism revenue. According to the minister, it is projected that by the end of 2025, the number of international visitors will surpass the previously set plan of 15 million, reaching 15.3 million. Additionally, the tourism sector employed 25.91 million people throughout 2025, recognized as a significant contribution to the development of human capital. Hence, the government will continue strengthening and modernizing this sector, which includes launching programs such as enhancing tourism sites and embracing technology.
