Indonesia's Tourism Sector Employs 25.91 Million Workers in 2025

According to Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism, the tourism sector employed 25.91 million workers in 2025, marking its considerable contribution to the national economy. This represents a 3.64% increase from the previous year. Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana highlighted that tourism has become a driver of economic growth and one of the largest employment sources. The sector contributed 3.97% to the national GDP, with further impacts across related industries. Accommodation and food services, as the backbone of tourism activities, grew by 7.41%. The tourism industry continues to support various sectors from SMEs to security and marketing, creating jobs and boosting public welfare.
