Growth of Indonesian Tourism Appeal to Foreign Tourists

Indonesian Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana announced that the appeal of national tourism continues to grow in the eyes of foreign tourists, as evidenced by positive results in the tourism sector. ‘These achievements underline the effectiveness of our marketing strategies and promotions,’ the minister notes.
According to the Central Statistics Agency, from January to November 2025, there were 13.98 million foreign tourists recorded in Indonesia, a 10% increase compared to 2024. Key contributors include countries like Malaysia, which accounted for 17% of all visits.
Moreover, for 2026, the Ministry of Tourism plans to enhance programs aimed at improving the quality of tourism services, developing local tourism, and integrating digital technologies.
Domestic tourism also plays a crucial role in the industry’s success, reaching record levels. Additionally, 25.91 million jobs were created in the tourism sector in 2025.
