PSSI Calls for Referee Evaluation on Controversial Garudayaksa Goal

The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has called on referees to conduct a thorough self-evaluation following a ‘illegally’ awarded goal by Championship club Garudayaksa. The match between Garudayaksa and FC Bekasi City at the Pakansari Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw. Focus was drawn to Obet Choiri’s equalizing goal, scored from a corner executed in violation of the rules. Despite the availability of the VAR system, the referees did not review the incident, causing dissatisfaction from Bekasi City. PSSI Exco member Arya Sinulingga stated that VAR is meant to ensure fair play and enjoyment, but improper usage can cause harm. PSSI calls for a review and analysis of referee actions, once again putting Indonesian football in a negative spotlight following recent scandals in League 4.
