When Law Loses Its Sense of Justice: UMM Academic Offers Reform Proposal

In recent days, the international academic community has been increasingly engaged in discussions about the shortcomings of the modern legal system and its failure to guarantee justice. Experts from various regions of the world have emphasized the need for reform so that the law can once again serve the principles of justice. In this context, an academic from Indonesia’s Universitas Muhammadiyah has proposed innovative ideas to overcome the issues facing legal institutions.

During a recent international forum dedicated to justice and law, it was noted that many modern legal systems are too focused on procedures, hindering the practical achievement of justice. This situation means that the law, which is supposed to protect citizens’ rights, often becomes a barrier to achieving true justice.

He emphasized that the current situation requires deep reforms, starting with the training of legal professionals who should be able to recognize and minimize procedural barriers. The main emphasis should be on values, not just technique.

A new methodology for analyzing and applying law was also proposed, one that is more flexible and sensitive to social changes and societal demands.

These proposals were met with great interest and sparked active discussions among the forum participants, indicating the timeliness and relevance of the topic. The academic environment continues to be a crucial platform for developing and initiating changes in legal practice, and this meeting demonstrated many scholars’ desire to move towards reform.
