New Taipei-Manado Route to Boost Tourism to Eastern Indonesia

In 2026, a new air route connecting Taipei and Manado opened, significantly boosting tourism and economic ties between Taiwan and Eastern Indonesia. Initiated by EVA Air, this route offers four flights per week. The decision to launch this route comes in response to the growing interest of Taiwanese tourists in the unique culture and nature of the Sulawesi region, which includes Manado.
The Indonesian local government highly values the new route, considering it an essential part of their strategy to develop tourism and enhance bilateral relations with Taiwan. Manado and its surroundings are renowned for their beaches and unique marine life. The presence of such a route is expected not only to attract tourists but also to develop the local economy by expanding tourist infrastructure and services.
EVA Air representatives emphasized that existing routes already showed high demand, and the introduction of an additional route indicates the interest of Indonesian and Taiwanese companies in expanding cooperation in the tourism sector.
Besides tourism aspects, this route can also strengthen cultural ties and trade opportunities between the two countries. In the coming years, there are plans to stimulate joint events and initiatives aimed at promoting the region’s cultural values. Indonesia hopes that such exchanges will further develop relations between the countries, positively impacting both economies.
