Minister: Domestic Tourists as the Strength of Indonesia's Tourism

Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, emphasized the pivotal role of domestic tourists in the nation’s tourism sector. According to her, all tourist destinations in Indonesia should cater to the preferences of domestic tourists to reap economic benefits. Her statement came after visiting Bali, where she assessed the service quality for tourists at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. She noted that foreign tourist arrivals in Bali reached an all-time high, surpassing 7 million. However, domestic tourists’ visits in 2025 decreased slightly. Putri Wardhana expressed hope that 1.08 billion domestic trips would be made in 2025 by Indonesians.
