Airlangga: Indonesia's Tourism Sector Recovers, Revenues Reach USD 13.82 Billion
The recovery of Indonesia’s tourism sector has been one of the positive highlights at the end of 2025. The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, reported that the tourism sector contributed 3.96% to the country’s GDP in the third quarter of 2025. Foreign exchange revenues from tourism reached USD 13.82 billion. The sector employs approximately 25.91 million people. Tourists mainly come from Malaysia, Australia, Singapore, and China. The government plans to focus on speeding up infrastructure development, improving visa policies, and implementing digital technologies for further growth. It is expected that in 2026, the number of foreign tourists will increase to 16-17.6 million, with a GDP contribution of 4.5-4.7%.
