InJourney Identifies Three Strategic Challenges in Tourism

InJourney, one of Indonesia’s leading tourism operators, recently held a forum in Bali to address three main industry challenges: limited connectivity, inadequate infrastructure, and the need for robust global promotion. CEO Maya Watono presented potential strategies to tackle these issues, emphasizing the necessity of an integrated approach.

Key Challenges

Watono highlighted issues with flight connectivity, especially international routes. She proposed reviewing regulations and collaborating with airlines to open new routes, offering incentives and joint marketing efforts.

Infrastructure improvement was also a major point of discussion. It was acknowledged that access to local airports and road conditions need enhancement to improve tourist convenience. Watono called for the development of integrated transportation systems and better road conditions in key tourist areas.

Moreover, significant work is needed to boost Indonesia’s promotional potential. Watono proposed creating funding to attract major international events and fostering collaboration with global travel agents.

This forum marked a critical step, highlighting the need for coordinated efforts between government and the private sector to effectively address the current challenges.
