President Prabowo of Indonesia has announced significant changes to the budget priorities for 2026, aiming to bolster the country’s economic growth, predicted to reach 5.4%. This shift focuses on strategic sectors that can potentially act as catalysts for further economic development. Prabowo emphasized the importance of infrastructure, education, and healthcare.

The updated strategy allocates substantial investments in transportation projects to enhance regional connectivity and create employment opportunities. Additional funding is earmarked for improving educational infrastructure, especially in rural areas, to provide more opportunities for quality education.

After visiting several universities and schools, the president stated that modern education projects would help develop critical thinking and innovative abilities among students, benefiting the labor market in the future.

Healthcare is also a primary focus, with significant funding increases to improve services and expand access to medical care for the population, particularly in remote and rural areas.

As a guest at several economic forums, President Prabowo also discussed the role of the private sector in investing in the economy. He emphasized the need for collaboration between the state and private companies to create a sustainable economic model.

Indonesian economists welcome these initiatives, noting that they support long-term growth and stability. They highlighted that such measures are necessary to achieve the ambitious economic growth targets set for the coming years.
