Indonesia and Norway Launch Community Environmental Funding Program

On Thursday, February 12, 2026, Indonesia’s Minister of Forestry and Norway’s Minister of International Development launched the fourth phase of the Community Environmental Funding Program in Jakarta. This initiative aims to support the FOLU Net Sink 2030 objective and has already distributed 19.31 billion rupiah to hundreds of community groups across 36 provinces.

Launched initially in August 2025, the program actively supports Indonesia’s efforts to reduce deforestation and enhance climate resilience by involving local communities in environmental activities. To date, it has benefited 561 groups, impacting over 31,000 people.

Indonesia’s Forestry Minister expressed gratitude to the Norwegian government for its consistent and effective collaboration, emphasizing the importance of international partnerships in combating climate change. The Norwegian Minister, in turn, highlighted climate change as a global issue that no nation can tackle alone, underscoring the significance of country cooperation.

Norway has already contributed 216 million USD to support Indonesia’s initiatives, signaling a long-term commitment to sustainable futures. The new program phase will focus on actively involving youth, social forestry groups, and conservation advocates in environmental preservation efforts.
