Indonesia and Norway Launch Environmental Grant Program for Fourth Period

Indonesia and Norway have showcased their commitment to sustainable development by launching the fourth period of the Environmental Grant Program. This initiative, backed by the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry and the Norwegian Ministry of International Development, marks a significant step towards the FOLU Net Sink 2030 target. The grant program, also known as the Small Grant, is grounded in a results-based funding mechanism where funds are allocated based on achieved environmental outcomes. Indonesia’s Minister of Forestry, Raja Juli Antoni, highlighted the importance of international cooperation in battling climate change. He emphasized that the third phase of the project was a major success, with over IDR 19.31 billion channeled to support 561 community groups across the country. The fourth phase will open more opportunities for youth and other community groups to actively participate in environmental conservation and climate resilience efforts. Indonesia and Norway continue to demonstrate globally the critical nature of international partnerships in addressing global environmental challenges. The ministries of both countries stress that such programs help build a more sustainable future and address forestry and climate change issues, particularly at the regional level.
