Cyber Threats 2025: Indonesia Must Be Wary of AI Agentik

With the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, cyber threats are becoming increasingly complex and dangerous. Special attention is given to AI Agentik, capable of acting autonomously and adaptively, enabling mass and efficient automation of cyber attacks. This significant increase in threat complexity highlights the importance of strengthening Indonesia’s cybersecurity. Pratama Persadha, a cybersecurity expert, noted that AI not only opens up new opportunities but also represents a significant risk. Threats are growing in the form of complex supply chain attacks and more sophisticated social engineering methods such as ‘deepfakes’ and vishing. Cybercriminals can use AI to impersonate identities for complex fraud schemes. The complexity of modern threats requires strategic steps from Indonesia to overcome them. One such step is the establishment of the Personal Data Protection Agency, which will oversee compliance with data protection laws. Additionally, the adoption of the Cybersecurity and Resilience Act needs to be accelerated. The strengthening of the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN) is also essential. This agency must be equipped with sufficient resources to effectively perform its functions in the evolving landscape of cyber threats.
