Direct Flights Between Taiwan and Indonesia Strengthen National Tourism

The recently announced direct flights between Taiwan and Indonesia, operated by TransNusa, mark a new era in the nation’s tourism industry. This initiative results from a partnership with Cocos Tour, supported by Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism and the Indonesian Economic and Trade Office in Taipei.
The Ministry of Tourism’s marketing department highlighted that the connection between Taipei and Manado is a vital opportunity for expanding Indonesia’s tourism horizons. Taiwan traditionally ranks among the top 20 sources of tourists for Indonesia, with visitor numbers increasing from 183,341 last year to 204,704 in 2025, indicating positive shifts.
Manado, known for its underwater landscapes, attracts Taiwanese tourists with its impressive nature and cultural ties. This route will act as a catalyst for increasing investment attractiveness in the region and providing economic benefits to local communities.
The inaugural flight took place on February 14, 2026, landing at Sam Ratulangi Airport in Manado. Airbus A320 aircraft will be used to service the route, with flights on February 18 and 22, opening new horizons for both destinations.
