Guangzhou-Palu and Jakarta-Luwuk Flight Routes Open

An important development in Indonesia’s tourism sector: The Ministry of Tourism has launched two new flight routes connecting Guangzhou and Palu, as well as Jakarta and Luwuk. This move aims to strengthen connectivity with Central Sulawesi and target Chinese tourists. The Guangzhou-Palu route is scheduled to commence operations in May 2026, while the Jakarta-Luwuk route will begin serving passengers on June 1. Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa emphasized that improving accessibility is key to developing new tourism destinations beyond Bali. Direct flights will especially benefit travelers from China, enabling them to reach key tourist spots more efficiently. The Banggai region, in particular, offers enticing natural attractions, including pristine beaches, untouched waterfalls, and scenic islands renowned for their biodiversity. It is anticipated that the increased tourist flow from China will generate significant economic benefits. Not only is a rise in tourism numbers expected, but there is also potential for infrastructure development and broader impacts on local small and medium enterprises, including the hospitality and culinary sectors.
