Prabowo: Indonesia-Britain Strategic Partnership

Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer have endorsed a new strategic partnership between their countries, focusing on enhancing economic, technological, security, and maritime infrastructure cooperation. This signing took place at a meeting in London on January 20, 2026. Prabowo highlighted the importance of the UK as a crucial partner with strong financial and technological capabilities, opening new opportunities for Indonesia’s economy. Part of the strategic partnership includes plans to build 1,500 fishing vessels to enhance local fishermen’s livelihoods and improve protein consumption in the country. This cooperation is a continuation of previous agreements made in 2024 and aims to foster a more sustainable, inclusive, and strategic bond between the two nations, reinforcing their global positions.
