Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto is actively supporting efforts of the Sasakawa Foundation to eradicate leprosy in the country. Following a recent meeting with Yohei Sasakawa in Bogor, the President confirmed the government’s commitment to facilitate medical and social events to combat the disease. Yohei Sasakawa, WHO’s Goodwill Ambassador for Leprosy Elimination, highlighted that the main obstacle is misinformation, leading to the stigmatization and isolation of those affected. Digital leaders such as popular influencers are aimed at changing public perception and reducing prejudice. The foundation also provides free medical supplies, integrating these efforts into daily life.
