YLKI Demands Corrective Measures for Housing Program

The housing program in Indonesia has come under scrutiny by YLKI, a consumer protection organization, which claims that without adequate demand analysis, the current program may not meet expectations. Deputy Minister of Housing and Settlement Fahri Hamzah states that the existing indicators do not clearly reflect the real demand for housing.

He emphasizes that 9.8 million families are without their own homes, while about 20 million live in inadequate conditions. A particular concern is the situation of 6 million families living in rented accommodation, making them the most vulnerable. Hamzah calls for reform of the management system and stresses that housing should be regarded as a right, not a commodity.

Industry representatives note that the sector is under pressure from economic slowdowns and unclear policies. Despite existing efforts, the market faces challenges such as weakened purchasing power and regulatory constraints.

Meanwhile, new opportunities like the development of Islamic housing are emerging. These projects are based on sharia principles, offering an alternative to traditional housing schemes. Additionally, the BP Tapera Utilization Fund Commission reports positive results and new plans for 2026.

At the Forum Wartawan Perumahan Rakyat (Forwapera) conference, issues persisting in the real estate industry were highlighted. At the same time, Anugerah Forwapera 2026 was presented, recognizing the contributions and efforts of various participants in the sector, including builder associations, financial institutions, and regulators.
