Indonesia’s democracy faces dangerous uncertainty following a recent Constitutional Court decision. The ‘Kawal Pemilu dan Demokrasi Indonesia’ (KPD Indonesia) has initiated a judicial review to lower the current parliamentary threshold. The existing 4% threshold may be reconsidered to 2.5% for fairer representation. KPD Indonesia argues that raising it to 7% or 8% threatens democracy by wasting millions of votes. They urge the Constitutional Court to make a fair and constitutional decision.
