Hasto on Economic Direction under Global Pressure

In challenging global economic conditions, Indonesia faces the need to strengthen its internal forces and adapt to external changes. In this context, Hasto Kristiyanto, the Secretary-General of the PDI Perjuangan, highlighted key aspects that should be government priorities. In a focus group discussion, he emphasized the importance of diversifying the economy, creating sustainable jobs, and reducing poverty levels.
Hasto argues that short-term economic strategies are ineffective in addressing structural problems such as unemployment and inequality. Acknowledging the numerous challenges facing the economy, he stresses the need for developing the national market. In particular, the focus is on strengthening the real sector of the economy, seeing it as a strategic cushion and long-term resilience.
Hasto outlined several priority directions, including technology development and education improvement. Final decisions in this direction must not only meet current needs but also contribute to establishing a solid foundation for future economic growth.
Concerns raised at the meeting become particularly relevant in the context of the global economic softening. Short-term market regulation tools are subject to constant changes and speculation, highlighting the importance of sustainable political decisions.
