Solar-Powered Lamps for Refugee Camps in Sumatra
In response to recent disasters in Sumatra, Dompet Dhuafa, through its Disaster Management Center (DMC), delivered solar-powered lamps to various refugee camps such as the villages of Hutanabolon and Sipange. This initiative was undertaken to provide lighting in camps where the power supply was interrupted due to severe flooding. The article explores the importance of using renewable energy sources in crisis situations, highlighting the social and environmental significance of this initiative. Thanks to this program, especially in conditions where conventional energy sources are unavailable, refugees gain the opportunity to create safer and more comfortable living conditions. Solar-powered lamps are easy to use, environmentally friendly, and significantly improve the quality of life in hard-to-reach communities. This project is part of Dompet Dhuafa’s broader commitment to improving living conditions for local populations affected by natural disasters.
