Continuation of Writing Indonesian History Books

January 9, 2026
1 min read

In 2026, the Indonesian Ministry of Culture will continue its project of writing history books. Four new volumes are planned, covering significant moments in Indonesian history: the struggle for independence and the eras of the Majapahit, Sriwijaya, and Samudera Pasai kingdoms. Minister Fadli Zon announced the formation of a team to work on the project, involving historians from various universities across the country. Last year, 10 volumes were completed, covering Indonesia’s history from colonial times to the modern era. These books will be a vital resource for preserving cultural memory and understanding Indonesia’s historical journey. They will provide in-depth insights into various aspects of cultural heritage, encounters between different civilizations in the archipelago, and critical periods in the nation’s history.
