Requirements for Baby Passport Application: What to Prepare?

With the rise in international travel, more Indonesian parents are considering obtaining passports for their infants. Immigration services have outlined several requirements necessary to apply for a passport for a child under 17. The validity period of such a passport is five years. Let’s look at what needs to be prepared:
- Parents’ electronic ID card (e-KTP).
- Parents’ marriage certificate or marriage act.
- Child’s birth certificate.
- Family card.
- A statement signed by both parents sealed with a stamp.
During the application process, both parents must be present. If one parent is unable to attend, a video call verification is acceptable. For children under five years, priority service is available. If the child is over five, applications can be submitted through the M-Paspor system.
In addition to applying for a new passport, it’s essential to be aware of the procedures related to the reissuance of lost or damaged passports. Differentiating between internal damage and loss requires fulfilling specific requirements, such as providing identification and supporting documents.
Thus, obtaining a passport for a child in Indonesia becomes a more straightforward process, provided all the stated requirements are met.
