In 2026, Indonesian citizens will be able to travel visa-free to 88 countries, thanks to the achievements of Indonesian diplomacy and mutually beneficial immigration agreements. Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections, Silmy Karim, explained that this success was achieved through long negotiations and adherence to international standards. Indonesia, with its large population and high mobility, has become an attractive partner for many nations. A key part of this policy is the principle of reciprocity. Other countries not only opened their doors to Indonesians but also gained similar access to Indonesia. It is also emphasized that the behavior of Indonesian citizens abroad affects the trust those countries have in Indonesia. Indonesians are expected to comply with immigration rules to strengthen the established trust level.
