Indonesia Issues 51 Calling Visas for Israeli Citizens

December 29, 2025

Indonesia continues to surprise with its immigration policies, showcasing flexibility towards countries with which it lacks formal diplomatic relations. A recent example can be seen in the alterations to the country’s visa policy concerning Israeli citizens. According to a new report from Indonesia’s Ministry of Immigration and Corrections, as of November 30, 2025, the government issued 51 calling visa recommendations for Israeli nationals. These visas are aimed at citizens from countries viewed as high-risk. Despite lacking official diplomatic ties with Israel, Indonesia has affirmed its willingness to cooperate in terms of migration policy.

Indonesia’s Minister of Immigration and Corrections, Agus Andrianto, noted that visa issuance decisions are based on collective discussions and cooperation with various departments. Intelligence services are also involved in this process, ensuring a comprehensive approach to analyzing potential entry risks into Indonesia. He highlighted that every visa application undergoes rigorous scrutiny against ideological, political, economic, and other criteria.

What attracts Israeli citizens to Indonesia? One possible reason could be business interests, as Indonesia remains an attractive business hub in Southeast Asia. The report also indicates that visa recommendations were granted to nationals from Nigeria, Somalia, and Afghanistan, illustrating the comprehensive nature of the country’s visa policies.

This policy receives considerable attention amid global discussions on visa and immigration reforms, emphasizing the importance of balancing security with openness.
