BTS to Promote Indonesia Tourism at 2026 Jakarta Concert

In 2026, Jakarta is set to host a grand concert by the world-renowned South Korean boy band BTS. What makes this event special is the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism’s plan to leverage the band’s performance to promote the country’s tourist attractions. The collaboration plans with BTS were announced by Deputy Minister Vinsensius Jemadu. The concert is scheduled for December 26 and 27, 2026, and the ministry sees this as an opportunity to showcase Indonesia’s hidden gems beyond well-known destinations like Bali.

Indonesian Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, emphasized the necessity of collaborating with one of the most popular music groups to draw global attention to Indonesian culture and tourism. She urged immediate coordination efforts with concert promoters to discuss collaboration details. The K-pop sensation, comprising RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook, can act as cultural ambassadors to highlight a range of tourist locations, especially beyond Bali.

Through its Famtrip program (familiarization trips), the Ministry has a comprehensive plan that includes exploring various local dishes and culture. One of the initiatives championed by the ministry under the ‘Beyond Ordinary’ slogan aims to emphasize Indonesia’s unique and diverse nature and culture.

Given BTS’s popularity in Korea and beyond, this move may spark significant interest in Indonesia’s new touristic spots. BTS’s presence could catalyze travel to regions previously not in the spotlight. The ministry believes that the collaboration with BTS will stand out as one of Indonesia’s largest global promotions.
