Indonesia Must Implement Advanced Agricultural Technology

Indonesia, despite its rich agricultural resources, faces a paradox: a significant portion of its food needs are met through imports. With fertile land and year-round sunlight, the country imports essential agricultural products such as corn, meat, and sugar. Experts, including Gusti Artama Gultom from the Bogor Agricultural Institute, emphasize the necessity of modernizing agricultural technology to achieve food sovereignty. He highlights that adopting advanced technologies, increasing productivity, and supporting the agricultural sector should be Indonesia’s priorities. This strategy is supported by the country’s geopolitical location but simultaneously demands proactive government policies to support the economy.
