Strengthening the Semiconductor Industry: Kemenperin Builds National Chip Design Ecosystem

The Indonesian Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is committed to strengthening the country’s high-tech sector, focusing on the development of the semiconductor industry. This move is part of an industrial transformation strategy directed by President Prabowo Subianto aimed at fortifying industrial structures and fostering deeper innovation. Since 2019, Kemenperin has been actively advancing initiatives to develop a national chip design ecosystem. In 2023, the Indonesia Chip Design Collaborative Center (ICDeC) was established, and a memorandum of understanding with Apple has been signed recently to support research and development efforts in this field.
