Sensoric Seats: A New Trend in Indonesian Cinemas

January 1, 2026
1 min read

The development of cinema technologies is rapidly evolving, offering increasingly enthralling movie viewing experiences. While screen quality and audio systems have been the main focus, the industry is now moving towards a more immersive experience by engaging our senses. New developments aim to foster an emotional connection between the audience and the storyline, including seat technology that responds to the dynamics of the film.

In Indonesia, Cinépolis Cinemas, in partnership with LUMMA, has introduced the innovative Magnify8 seats, which enhance emotional immersion without overwhelming stimulation. These seats are available in several cities, including Jakarta and Medan, marking a step forward in cinema technology.

Magnify8 takes comfort and immersion to a new level, which, according to Cinépolis Cinemas Indonesia’s CEO Alejandro Aguilera Garibay, is a major milestone in viewing experience evolution.

The key feature of these seats is their eight independently programmable vibration points, allowing for the creation of a natural atmosphere without causing fatigue. This showcases how quickly audience preferences are changing worldwide and how technology can adapt to create a unique experience.
