On August 13, 2025, EDRR 2025 opened in Jakarta, where Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) unveiled its latest technologies in early disaster warning. The event gathered numerous experts and practitioners to share experiences and showcase innovations in disaster mitigation.

BMKG head Dwikorita Karnawati emphasized the importance of immediate action after receiving warnings of potential emergencies. The showcased technologies, such as high-resolution sensors, allow the public to be warned of impending earthquakes, tsunamis, and extreme weather conditions in the shortest possible time.

The exhibition also included seminars and discussion groups that focused on modern methods of using technology to enhance the effectiveness of warning systems. The focus was on the need for cooperation between governments, international organizations, and private companies to strengthen the overall safety infrastructure.

Special attention was given to the integration of artificial intelligence and digital technologies into disaster monitoring and warning systems. Menko PMK Pratikno highlighted that with these technologies, Indonesia can significantly improve its ability to react quickly and minimize risks.

This exhibition highlighted the country’s commitment to developing and implementing modern solutions not only for disaster warnings but also for training the population in emergency actions. BMKG intends to continue advancing its technologies and training local communities in proper responses to threats, contributing to Indonesia’s resilience against natural disasters.

EDRR 2025 provided participants with the opportunity to exchange experiences and explore new paths for collaboration to create a safe and sustainable future for all.
