Indonesia and Turkey Deepen Defense and Technology Cooperation
Military strength and technological independence have become focal points in the longstanding cooperation between Indonesia and Turkey. A recent meeting in Istanbul, attended by Indonesian Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, highlighted future plans. Over the past decade, the two nations have successfully engaged in joint projects, such as the development of the Kaplan MT medium tank and Anka drones. The new Defense Cooperation Agreement aims to deepen this cooperation, focusing on technology transfer and the development of the defense industry. During the meetings, both sides confirmed the importance of continuing and expanding such initiatives, not only to bolster defense capabilities but also to foster scientific and technological progress.
