Indonesia and the UK Establish a New Strategic Axis

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto announced the commencement of a new era of strategic relations between Indonesia and the United Kingdom. Following his meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in London, a joint statement on a New Strategic Partnership was signed. This agreement aims to strengthen cooperation in the fields of economy, technology, and investment. Prabowo emphasized the importance of this partnership in expanding financing opportunities and technology transfer. The maritime sector will be a significant focus, aiming to improve fishermen’s welfare and the public’s protein intake. The partnership encompasses four core pillars: economic growth, climate and energy, defense and security, and human and societal development. By doing so, Indonesia and the UK are solidifying their roles as strategic partners on the global stage.
