The Indonesian government heavily relies on advanced technologies to increase the country’s oil and gas production. The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia, Bahlil Lahadalia, stated that the government is committed to boosting oil production, which reached 605,300 barrels per day in 2025. He emphasized the critical role of technologies such as enhanced oil recovery, fracking, and horizontal drilling. Despite economic challenges, the ministry offers flexible contract terms for contractors to encourage the adoption of new technologies. Authorities are also redoubling efforts to reactivate old wells and develop new fields in eastern Indonesia.
