Battery Manufacturing Facilities in Karawang Completed, EV Industry Enters Production Phase

In January 2026, the installation of equipment at the CATIB manufacturing facility in Karawang was completed, marking a significant milestone for Indonesia in strengthening its position in the global electric vehicle industry. As a result of collaboration between PT Industri Baterai Indonesia and an international consortium, this project supports the creation of a sustainable battery supply chain from mineral processing to final product assembly. The next phase will see an expansion of production capacity from 6.9 to 15 GWh. The entire infrastructure is spread across 43 hectares, with commercial operation expected to begin by the second quarter of 2026.
