Survey: Kang Dedi Mulyadi Needs to Be Cautious

Indikator Politik Indonesia recently released a survey assessing the first year of West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi’s administration. The analysis revealed that while the governor’s approval rating is high, certain areas of governance require urgent attention. Specifically, the poverty alleviation programs still receive low satisfaction scores even after a year in office. Governor Dedi Mulyadi commenced his tenure with an impressive approval rating of 95.5% by early 2026. Conversely, Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan’s satisfaction levels slightly dropped to 55.3%. Progress is evident in areas such as electricity provision and communication, yet social welfare and workforce skills programs continue to raise concerns, with satisfaction rates hovering around 50%. Indikator Politik’s Founder Burhanuddin Muhtadi warned that high approval ratings could become dangerous if they lead to cult-like devotion. He stressed the importance of not getting distracted by high approval ratings as this could divert focus from actual issues. Muhtadi urged the authorities to consider being more open to criticism to improve governance in the region. Such data can be the foundation for encouraging constructive feedback, which could aid in improving regional welfare. This would also require the governor to be more open to dialogue with the public to identify and rectify weaknesses in the province’s governance.
