AI Ethics: Challenge from UIN Walisongo's New Professor

The Islamic University UIN Walisongo appointed 10 new professors, reaffirming its role as a leading educational institution in the region. Among them was Professor Ahmad Faiz, who became the first Professor of Communication Sciences at the university. In his view, the development of technology should be accompanied by appropriate ethical norms to ensure the harmonious coexistence of humans and machines. The professor emphasized that society must actively participate in the creation and implementation of these standards. Such an approach helps mitigate potential risks associated with AI use, such as privacy violations, discrimination, and segregation. In his speech, he outlined specific steps to integrate ethics into technological developments, from educating students to establishing ethical committees.
