Prof. Tatacipta Dirgantara Appointed as ITB Rector for 2025-2030
The Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) has announced the appointment of Professor Tatacipta Dirgantara as the rector for the 2025-2030 term. The decision was made during a Board of Trustees (MWA) meeting in Jakarta. This marks a continuation from Professor Reini Wirahadikusumah’s tenure from 2020 to 2025. Professor Tatacipta is an alumnus of ITB, having obtained both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees there, before pursuing his doctoral studies in the UK at Queen Mary University of London.
Professor Tatacipta served as dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and chaired the expert group on solid mechanics and lightweight structures. He has received numerous accolades for his contributions to science and education, including the National Transportation Figure Award from Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation and the People of the Year award from METRO TV.
The rector selection process included multiple stages, beginning on September 4, 2024, and concluding on November 28, 2024. This event underscores ITB’s significant role in advancing science and technology in Indonesia and highlights its commitment to continued innovative contributions in these fields.
