TNI Soldier Falls in Shootout in Tembagapura

A recent confrontation in Mimika Regency, Papua, ended in a tragic loss for the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI). It has been reported that Sergeant AC was killed, and two other individuals, including another soldier and a civilian, were injured in the attack. On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, representatives from Komando Daerah Militer XVII Cenderawasih confirmed the shooting incident in the area under PT Freeport Indonesia’s control. The incident occurred at the 50th kilometer of the road leading to the mine when an attack was made on a vehicle. The victims were promptly evacuated for medical attention.
