Shooting Incident at Mile Post 50 Tembagapura: TNI Member Killed

On February 11, 2026, a tragic incident occurred at Mile Post 50, the main road leading to Tembagapura: a TNI member was killed in a shooting. The situation unfolded around 3:00 PM local time when vehicles from PT Freeport Indonesia were attacked by the Free Papua Movement (OPM). As a result, the main road has been temporarily closed for safety reasons.
All victims have been evacuated from the scene, except for Serka AC, who lost his life. Another TNI member, Sertu H, suffered injuries, as did PT Freeport employee HR. The Kapendam XVII/Cenderawasih division confirmed the casualties and is working on providing medical care to the victims. An operation to hunt down the shooters is underway.
