PSSI Jatim's Response to Violent Incident in Match
On January 5, 2026, during a League 4 Jatim match between Putra Jaya Pasuruan and Perseta 1970 Tulungagung, a violent incident occurred that has sparked a public outcry on social media. During the match, a player from Putra Jaya allegedly delivered a deliberate kick to the chest of a Perseta 1970 player, an act that contravenes the spirit of sportsmanship and jeopardizes the victim’s safety. The East Java PSSI leadership condemned the action and confirmed that the incident is under review by the Disciplinary Committee (Komdis). The committee is investigating the altercation and promises strict penalties for those found guilty. While football should be a showcase for talent and achievement, on-field violence is unacceptable. Komdis officials stated that the punishment would be severe in accordance with the PSSI’s disciplinary code, and they plan to make decisions based on video evidence and reports from the match officials.
