Violence Tendency in League 4 Football: How a Kung Fu Kick Led to a Lifetime Ban
In the world of football, a disturbing tragedy has led to severe sanctions. A player from the Putra Jaya Pasuruan team, Muh Hilmi Gimnastiar, received a lifetime ban from football activities due to an attack on a player from the Perseta 1970 Tulungagung team, Firman Nugraha, during a League 4 Pusavat Cup 2025-2026 match. This incident occurred at Gelora Bangkalan stadium in South Indonesia and drew immediate criticism. In the highly anticipated match in early January 2026, Hilmi’s team was trailing by four goals when a physical act in the form of a kick took place, which was recorded on video and subsequently went viral. Although Muh Hilmi Gimnastiar apologized, his action was deemed rough and dangerous, leading the Disciplinary Committee to impose the maximum penalty. A financial penalty of 2.5 million Rupiah was also issued. This incident not only sparked discussions among football enthusiasts but also became a warning to PSSI players and officials that such acts of violence are unacceptable and require serious sanctions. The Disciplinary Committee also leaves open the possibility for an appeal. This event became an important step in strengthening sportsmanship principles and security on the field.
