Campus Transformation: Moving Towards University 4.0

In today’s world where education’s role is not confined to diploma issuance, Indonesian higher education is undergoing significant changes. Brian Yuliarto, Indonesia’s Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek), highlighted the necessity to merge the academic and economic potential of universities at an event in Jakarta. He emphasized the importance of the ‘University 4.0’ initiative, aimed at turning campuses into economic growth centers.

Traditional roles of teaching and learning are now complemented by new challenges: supporting social and economic transformations. This involves fostering close collaboration with industry and the international academic community. The highlighted collaboration with the Netherlands in research has resulted in 459 active joint projects…

Yuliarto also noted the importance of internship programs to be integrated into educational plans, aimed at creating a direct impact on society. The four key pillars of national research focus on human resources enhancement, research quality, commercialization of results, and adaptive policy. The goal is to build an ecosystem of sustainable change through broad knowledge exchange and global cooperation.
