Synergy of Research and Industry Towards Indonesia Golden 2045

Indonesia is ambitiously aiming to become a ‘golden nation’ by 2045, marking the centenary of its independence. One pivotal approach to realize this vision is enhancing collaboration in research and industry. At a recent gathering in Jakarta, partnerships like the one between Indonesia and Japan were highlighted as crucial in creating a sustainable ecosystem of scientific talent. The meeting, organized under the auspices of the JSPS Alumni Association and Indonesia Professional Researchers Committee (JAAI & PPI), focused on the significance of science in achieving Indonesia’s 2045 goals. Herry Jogaswara, Head of Research Organization for Archaeology, Language, and Literature of BRIN, noted that long-term scientific efforts lead to the development of new technologies and methods, strengthening the country’s scientific infrastructure. Similar sentiments were echoed by Sukma Surya Kusumah, who emphasized the necessity for research results to be applied practically. According to her, major innovations should transition into industry and society. Attracting industrial partners early in development is key to building trust and easing commercialization. The importance of data quality for artificial intelligence usage was also noted by Rezzy Eko Caraka from the BRIN Center for Data Science and Information. He emphasized that data legality and ethical frameworks are critical. A practical example of innovative products was a material based on agro-components from local resources, presented by Yanuar Sigit Pramana. The synergy of JAAI and PPI represents a strategy that will enable Indonesia to achieve its set objectives.
