PNM’s Strategy for Promoting Sustainable Business Practices
In recent years, there has been a significant advance in the implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategies in Indonesia. Not only are major corporations adopting these strategies, but with the help of PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM), they are being applied at the grassroots level of micro-enterprises. PNM, as part of a state structure, emphasizes the social, economic, and environmental aspects of its business, facilitating community development.
PNM’s ‘Madani Vokasi Academy’ (MVA) program showcases how social investments can yield substantial returns, both economically and socially. Specifically, the project has helped over 228,000 people by providing them with opportunities for professional growth and improving their living standards.
Successful initiatives also include waste recycling. Aan Andasari, a client of the Mekaar program, transforms discarded jeans into high-value products while teaching skills to local orphaned children. This practical evidence underlines how ESG strategies can have a positive impact on local communities.
Thanks to these initiatives, PNM has received several awards for excellence in social and environmental projects. This clearly demonstrates that the company not only focuses on compliance with regulatory norms but actively works to enhance the social fabric of Indonesian society.
