JICA Supports Legal Reform to Improve Business Climate in Indonesia

On January 21, 2026, a new collaboration was announced in Jakarta between the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Indonesian government. This initiative focuses on strengthening the business legal system and attracting investments. The agreement covers a range of activities from training and capacity building for judicial personnel to knowledge exchange between Indonesian and Japanese experts. Such a partnership highlights the strategic importance of legal reforms, comparable to infrastructure development. Creating a more transparent and efficient legal system will offer greater reliability for global investors and contribute to Indonesia’s long-term economic growth. The project includes training for commercial court judges, business law seminars, and training programs in Japan. Participation in establishing new legal standards aims to make Indonesia’s business climate more competitive and internationally aligned.
