Batam's HDI Strengthens Over Five Years, Education as Key Support
The Human Development Index (HDI) of Batam City in 2025 reached 83.80, increasing by 0.48 points or 0.58% compared to the previous year, highlighting the ongoing positive trend in human development. Eko Aprianto, Head of the Batam Central Statistics Agency, reported improvements across all three HDI dimensions: health, education, and living standards. The life expectancy at birth rose to 75.54 years, an increase of 0.35 years since 2024. The average years of schooling for those aged 25 and above also increased, reaching 11.34 years. Living standards, measured by real per capita expenditure, rose by 1.40%. These figures underscore the vital role of education and healthcare in enhancing the quality of life in Batam.
