Indonesia-UK Maritime Partnership to Create 600,000 Jobs

A recent maritime partnership between Indonesia and the United Kingdom is set to create 600,000 jobs in Indonesia. The announcement was made by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya following a bilateral meeting between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in London. This agreement encompasses the construction of 1,582 fishing vessels and could be a significant step in the growth of Indonesia’s maritime economy. Over 30,000 people will be employed as crew, 400,000 in the production and assembly of the vessels, and 170,000 will be impacted by the multiplier effect of this project. The partnership is also expected to boost investment opportunities in the shipbuilding industry and strengthen the nation’s maritime security.
