Sulbar DPRD Commission I Participates in FGD on Developing Indonesia's Democracy Index

An important event in the political life of Indonesia’s Sulbar region was the participation of Commission I of the Regional People’s Representative Council in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) dedicated to the development of the Democracy Index of Indonesia (IDI) in the political sector. This event, organized by the Government of West Sulawesi Province through the National Unity and Political Affairs Agency, took place on February 12, 2026, at the Berkah Hotel. The main speaker at the forum was Khalil Qibran, a member of Commission I.

He emphasized the importance of enhancing the quality of democracy in the region by increasing public political participation and ensuring transparent governance. It was also particularly noted that the role of legislative and executive bodies is crucial in building a fair and healthy political system.

“The Democracy Index of Indonesia is an important tool in assessing the quality of democracy at the local level. Therefore, the synergy of all stakeholders is necessary to improve each of the indicators,” Khalil stressed.

The forum was attended by representatives of various organizations, academics, political party representatives, and community leaders. Participants discussed various strategies for improving the index indicators, emphasizing the importance of public support and developing political literacy among the population.

The forum also focused on finding concrete solutions to improve the necessary indicators by 2024. Proposals included actively involving all operational units (OPD), as well as legal and information services departments, to achieve the goals stated by the Governor.
