Indonesian Political Parties Integrity Index 2025: An Analysis

In 2025, the Integrity Index of Indonesian Political Parties (IIPP) reached 61.22%, indicating a medium level of integrity. This index is the result of research conducted by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) on eight major parties in the country, namely: PDI Perjuangan, Partai Golkar, Gerindra, PKB, Nasdem, PKS, Demokrat, and PAN.

Party integrity is measured across five key dimensions: code of ethics, internal democracy, cadre development, recruitment, and financial management. While certain areas, like sub-dimensions of the code of ethics (70.00%), show positive results, others, such as financial management, fall significantly below standards.

Financial transparency of the parties, scoring only 44.50%, needs significant improvement. Issues with financial transparency are, in part, due to inadequate funding, affecting the parties’ capabilities in developing educational initiatives and supporting operational activities.

Indonesia’s party system faces challenges that call for new approaches to enhance transparency and democratize processes in a long-term perspective.
